Suggested reading & resources for hunting down your convict ancestors

transported to Port Jackson

The Convicts transported to NSW 1788—1849—on microfiche and reel at most large libraries at the Archives Office.

The convicts are listed by year of arrival and the by ship. Some of the Indents contain more information that others i.e.  The earlier the ship, the less information the Indents contain...and later Indents contain more information such as Native place, Marital Status, Children, Personal Characteristics, Religion, Number of previous convictions, Education  (R&/or W) etc.

I have transcribed many details from the above microfiche and it is now

 available on CD-ROM
