TOPICS for discussion:

  • Hills--Hawkesbury--Hunter Valley

  • Any topic concerning the life and times of people living in the HHH areas

  • Brick-walls-- remember to tell us what you have already researched to save
others from covering the same ground

  • You may wish to just list ancestors who lived in the areas--so please feel free to mention them every so often

TOPICS NOT for discussion--and basic etiquette

  • No advertising. It is a Rootsweb guideline that you don't post commercial messages, fee-for-service postings or advertising

  • When replying to a message, quote only the specific message to which you are replying, removing the rest of the messages from your reply. Also, remember to change the subject if replying to a Digest message so that it coincides with the message subject to which you are replying.

  • ANY message about a virus.

  • When answering a question, ensure that you give full attribution to the source  - that means if you reply using information that someone or some organisation has published then state your source.

  • Posting emails from another List, or posting emails that were originally posted  to you  privately must not be posted to the this list unless you have been given permission by the author.

  • Please do not send messages asking listers to take part in any petition.

  • Please do not send messages about broken links, other technical problems or spam  to the list! If you are experiencing any problems please send a private message to me.

  • Please - no flames!   That means NO rude remarks about any other subscriber and no unkind or sarcastic comments about someone who has posted a question or an answer to which you may disagree.

  • Breaking basic rules can cause annoyance to our hundreds of other subscribers who joined to discuss people who have lived, or do live in the HHH areas,  and I reserve the right to immediately  UNSUBSCRIBE anyone who disregards this and without warning or further discussion.

And most importantly remember basic manners. If you ask a question and receive a reply,
then send a thank you. It appears to me that over recent times many people think that a thank you is not necessary, when in fact it is a very powerful tool.

The majority of these rules are the rules that Rootsweb suggest to all list owners.
